You cannot trigger the shutter via Eye-Fi. You need a remote trigger, they are cheap. I recommend the Phottix Plato. Works well with nikon, canon etc

Sorry you are having trouble. Please also make sure relayed upload is off, raw upload is off; basically only jpg upload should be on, targeted at your computer.

The Eye-Fi card does not support this, which is why the button goes away in Eye-Fi mode. Interesting idea to use the headphone jack. I am not sure how to do that, but I will think about it.
