Re: Is Wifibooth compatible with the current iPad OS?

Thank you Tim.

Are you able to comment on whether we should consider Wifibooth to essentially be mature and sunsetted now, with no further updates planned other than those needed to fix those issues brought on by new iOS updates and only as long as they are reasonably simple to fix?

Is Wifibooth compatible with the current iPad OS?

I have hesitated on updating my iPad for more than a year now because I'm scared something will break and wifibooth will stop working or stop talking to the DNP printer over WPS as a result. But it's getting very hard to avoid updating the iPad… and what's more, I want to buy a brand new iPad that's...

What do you guys use to hold everything?

Checking in with the Wifibooth community to find if anyone might share their setup, or suggest tripods, racks, or other such gear for an event? I'm currently using a custom built cabinet. it's large, heavy, somewhat fragile (can get dinged or scratched easy) and therefore a hassle to use. As a resul...

WPS Pro @ v3 and AirPrint?

I have a WPS Pro w/ DNP printer. For a few years now, I've been using an ethernet —to—> WiFi dongle on it. That's the only way I know that I can connect the printer to the same wireless network as the iPad and the Canon 80D. (Wired networks are just not an option at events). I just discovered DNP ha...

Re: Poor/Unreliable Performance

I can see no way it could be a poor connection. Using an Alcatel hotspot. The iPad, hotspot, and 80D are all sitting on a table together (all within 4 feet of each other with nothing in between). There is a stock Apple Silicon iPad Pro bumper case on the iPad. There are no other symptoms on the iPad...

Poor/Unreliable Performance

I used Wifibooth two weekends ago, after not having used it since June. I noticed that Wifibooth auto-updated. What I've noticed is that the performance is sometimes awful. I set the camera (Canon 80D) to Medium JPG and no raw (even though raw should make no difference). What I mean is that (1) the ...

I can confirm this is a bug.

I set AF to off and then it turns back on. This is new as of the current version.

Wifibooth "Server"?

I've recently been contemplating how nice it would be to have a web portal where I can create and manage all my Wifibooth projects including being able to remotely access copies of all the photos for an event in progress. Changes made on the portal would sync to the iPad in about real-time. This wou...

Re: extreme slowness when using Canon 70D

Hi Tim,

Would any of the advanced settings, like "alt cam libs" be applicable to the 80D or should I hold tight until the beta comes out?

Also, I did previously get on your beta program. Do I need to sign up again or will it still work using Apple's current beta "installer"?

Re: extreme slowness when using Canon 70D

Eager to hear on this.
The live view is so choppy/laggy it throws off too many people who complain… so I've had to stop using it… but that also throws off people because, coming from the typical selfie experience, they believe they should be able to see what they're about to photograph.

Re: Is any kind of wired printing possible?

Hey calzone, If you can determine a sequence of events such that you can reliably cause the WPS unit to get into this bad state, please let me know. Perhaps there is some way Wifibooth can slow down commands it issues, or some workaround we can find... I cannot say for sure. I will try experimentin...

Re: Is any kind of wired printing possible?

Dalia, My experience has been that the WPS + DNP works about 80% of the time as one would want. But for some reason, there are times where it just fails to print and an error shows up. If you try again, it keeps failing and will not print again until you reboot the WPS. Sometimes when this happens, ...

Is any kind of wired printing possible?

My experience with the DNP is that sooner or later, it will choke. The only way around this problem is to reboot the WPS. Which requires telling everyone to stand by while you address technical difficulties, open up the photo booth enclosure, and unplug the WPS, count to 10, then replug it. Not a pr...

Re: Is a CF -> SD on 7D (not Mark II) supported ?

My colleague agrees that having a delay on the first beep is beneficial. I don't get it at all. It throws me off. If it were up to me, I'd prefer a "get ready!" for 2 seconds with a progress circle followed by the actual countdown, beep and numbers perfectly synced. But he agrees with your implement...

Re: Is a CF -> SD on 7D (not Mark II) supported ?

Thank you Tim, I installed and tested the beta. The beep timing is definitely improved. The very first one was slightly off but thereafter all tests were fine. Much appreciated! —— EDIT —— Upon further experimentation, I noticed the beep for the 3 is always late, but 2 and 1 are fine. —— EDIT 2 —— I...

iPad Pro ML0N2LL/A (first version of iPad Pro… large screen, purchased Jan 2016) iOS 11.0.3 (15A432) I already have GIFs turned off The beeps happen about 0.25 after the number appears on the screen -- Also, I tried connecting the Canon to my MacBook Pro using USB and EOS Utility. Re: Apps for logos and overlays

Any line art application. If you don't own such software and don't want to buy it / rent it and learn how to use it, then you'll have to hire a designer to create it for you. Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer are the two "top dogs" in the Apple world for line art right now. Designer has an iPa...

Re: Is a CF -> SD on 7D (not Mark II) supported ?

Thank you for reviewing the footage. Given we're bumping against the limits of technology and that's the best that can be expected, I deleted the hourglass and left that blank. To my eye, it's an improvement because all the user sees is another live view, unobscured. I feel that's a better UX situat...

It was about 7 feet away at the time of testing from both iPad and camera. I had camera on a table and the iPad in my lap sitting in front of camera about 4 feet away from the camera. By the way… I don't know I this makes any difference one way or another, but I've been conducting all testing with a...

Re: Is a CF -> SD on 7D (not Mark II) supported ?

I tried connecting both the iPad and the 80D to my home WiFi network, which I know to be fast, and also changed the setting and rebooted the iPad. It's still sticking and displaying the hourglass for a couple seconds after each photo. Out of two attempts of three shots each, there was one photo (fir...

Re: Is a CF -> SD on 7D (not Mark II) supported ?

I know the camera is ready to fire again immediately. It can handle 3 sequential pictures no problem. The strobe is another story, but that will be completely taken care of by the three second countdown. I would personally make the bet that Wifibooth is 100% ok to start a new countdown immediately. ...
