Autofocus won’t turn off

Postby Jdecker1978 » Mon May 27, 2019 12:53 am

Hey Tim if I turn the autofocus off and leave the menu when I come back it’s automatically turned back on. I have the current version. How do I keep it off?

Some cameras require autofocus and it cannot actually be turned off. Other cameras, depending on the lens used, will override the setting if the lens is set to AF.
Which camera + which lens (if applicable) are you using?

I can confirm this is a bug.

I set AF to off and then it turns back on. This is new as of the current version.

AF can be turned on by the camera - depends on camera settings.
In some cases the camera will not allow AF to be turned off. Some cameras never allow AF off.
If you are having trouble with AF turning back on then check the cam settings

I checked out the autofocus setting. Turns out there's an embarrassing bug there that goes all the way back to 2017 and prior: the initial value of that switch isn't loaded properly. When that switch is changed then the value is saved (and later used) correctly, but, when you first open settings the value of that switch will appear to be random (it isn't). That's now fixed for the next update. Sorry about that!
