Has anyone recently been able to use the playmemories app to install the smart remote software? I read somewhere that the a7iii cameras no longer use these apps but I'm having trouble with the wifibooth app.

I can get it to control the camera and take pictures which store on the camera but the pictures don't show up on wifibooth. All I get is a circle saying "please wait" and it counts down from 55 seconds but then nothing shows.

So I figure it's because I don't have the smart remote app installed but playmemories is refusing to connect to the camera to install it.

If you can connect to the camera, then it sounds like things are working ok.
Can you please check that the camera is saving photos in JPG (not only raw) ?

Yes jpeg only. I formatted the card as well to try and troubleshoot. That didn't work either.

Hmmm strange. Would you be willing to run a beta version so I could get some logs? Hopefully i can see what is happening.

I got the same Problem with A7R3
