Ok. Well the wedding is 24th of March. Do you think you will be able to get your head around that (and the iphone App) until then or is this kind of unrealistic?

There's still a ton of time before 24 March.
As far as I understand it the only issues are the focus issue, and the remote/iphone issue.
The focus issue isn't going to necessarily fix anything, even if I tell it to take another photo -- it can still miss again if the people are moving. You need to solve this with better lighting. If you have high-contrast lighting like always-on lighting, the phase-detection autofocus of your camera will work MUCH better because of the shadows created. It is looking for the edges of high/low contrast, ie. bright-to-dark edges. You can MAKE those with your lighting. There are cheap LED always-on lighting solutions available for under $40!
The remote issue I should be able to investigate by early next week...

The only thing I would like you to fix regarding the focus issue is that if the cam is not able to take a photo for whatever reasons, I don't want wifibooth to "freeze" a.k.a trying to load the photo that has never been taken, but just keep on doing it's thing. Meaning if I want to take 2 photos in a row and the second one failed, ignore it and go on instead of trying to load it.

Yup that is totally fair. I will try to do that. The issue is that i need to discover the canon-proprietary event code that tells me this. It is undocumented of course. And sitting in a river of other binary event data...

Just want to mention, we had a birthday party at my house last weekend. Tested out the new photobox and let the connection between cam and wifibooth persist the whole night. Works like a charm, great job.

Once you've shipped the new version, I'll def. buy it.

Hi Christian
Cool that it was solid.

I just spent more hours on the M5 focus issue. There's a slim chance that the event code 0xC189 (property changed) showing device property 0xD1BA (=PTP_DPC_CANON_EOS_LvAfSystem, unknown meaning to me) changing from 0x0000 to 0x0001 means focus lock, and 0 to 2 or 0 to 3 means "bad" ie no lock... in which case I could try to code you something to detect this and you could test if it fires at the right times... but this feels like a long shot.

Another option to consider (instead of detecting no autofocus lock) is that I attempt to send your camera a command that puts it in manual focus mode. Re this path - can Cascable put your camera in manual focus mode, and if so, do you have the focus problem with Cascable still?

AFAIK you're the only one with this camera and I have a lot of other things that need fixing in this app, so this is not going to quickly progress beyond where it already is

If you would ask me, I would do the follwing:

1) Release a new version of wifibooth with the changes for the m5 now.
2) Wait if other ppl complain about focus problems. As I said, wifibooth works good during the birthday party as I've taken care of enough light.

What do you think?

Hi.

I kept asking whether the fix for the M5 is going out until the 24th of March. It seems like this won't happen right?

Apple rejected the update because they said the link to my terms and conditions wasnt visible enough. I resubmitted it again last night. 24th is possible. But there is nothing stopping you using the testflight version - i can unlock it for free for you. Just hit "restore purchase", log in with a facebook account, and tell me the name on the facebook account. (The restore will fail thats ok)

The facebook name I tried it with is "Christian".

If I get this for free, is there a donation possibility somewhere?

Hi Christian are you Christian B.W., Christian D., or Christian K. ?
Sure, if you want to donate, I can give you a paypal address.. but the "free" is for a time period, ie. for a month. Then if you like it, you could buy the app?

by the way, you mentioned in the release notes to have fixed some problem if the cam can not focus. I've tried this, same problem. is this intended?

The focus problem fixes only apply to cameras that take photos with normal shutter release commands. Not the M5. The M5 uses a weird asynchronous release command that always returns success.
