Hey Tim,

my question didn't really make sense. There is nothing on the a5000 i could set up my flash on ;)

Hey Tim,

I thought that I don’t really need to do this test but after being set back a couple of times I am more careful.

Result: you are right, the quality is really not good. It’s only 100 KB. It’s set to raw&jpeg and large.

Do you already have a solution for this? :D

What version of the smart remote embedded app is it? You fan check from inside the app when you first start it
Also: please confirm for me Alt Cam Libs is OFF in settings app

The app version is 4.31. And the app settings in iOS settings are all off.

I dont understand then - the images should definitely be larger.

I can't explain it either. The camera display says on the top: 3:2 format Raw&JPG L-size

I don't know why it keeps saving them so little...

Maybe it’s helpful if I put this in an extra thread as there are maybe more 6000 users...

Wait - you know that the smart remote app has separate settings for image size right? After the app opens, hit menu

Hey Tim,

Yes i double checked everything and set image size in normal mode and remote mode to large/raw&jpy...

When I said it shows the right set up on the screen I was was talking about the actual remote app screen on the camera.

Yeah, in that case this is the limitation that the a5000/a6000 do not support access to storage, so wifibooth only gets access to the shot previews. a6300, a6500 do not have this limitation

Hi all,

Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm having the same issues with my 80D, connected over wifi, where live view and downloading of photos is extremely laggy....takes approximately 30-60 seconds (or more) to show photograph and the live view before taking is completely blurred out and laggy enough that it almost appears it's not showing anything live.

I'm running on an iPad Air with 80%+ battery, iOS 11.2. I ran the canon app to test it out and it was flawless, true "live view" and a quick display of the photograph once taken...so it doesn't appear to be the same issue as the OP.

Any thoughts? Hoping to get this working for an event in two weeks.

Hi CRFMuseum,
Please try the current beta version and see if it is any different:

TESTFLIGHT
Here's what you need to do to install wifibooth beta version:
1. install the Apple app "TestFlight" (free)
2. on the device you installed Testflight, open the email you got from apple testflight and touch the button at the bottom to accept the testflight invitation
3. In the testflight app, install Wifibooth. You can install it over top of the current version if you want to (Testflight will warn you, don't worry - it's safe).

Thanks Tim,

I installed TestFlight and snapped through some photos with it...it was slightly faster this time. I could not connect via my router wifi though, only directly through the camera. When I first tried the app (prior to test flight) it took quite a while before it was willing to connect with wifi, but I also tested directly through the camera then as well.

One issue that arose prior to testflight but also after posting was that the app would take a photo but then say something along the lines of "wifibooth isn't ready to take a photo yet" even after minutes of waiting.

There's no difference between the app-store version and the beta version for how the camera connects (at the moment at least).
For all tests that are about live-view performance, please always connect directly to your camera.
Connecting through your router can cause large differences in performance depending on random factors -- for example, your daughter's iPhone suddenly decided to download a 2GB update...
If you are connecting directly to your camera, and experiencing the problems you describe then that is a different issue

Yes, it's still quite slow even with the direct connection...it's a little bit better (i've also updated my iOS which may have helped) but still slow enough to be a hindrance during an event.

Ok. Has wifibooth always been slow for you or was it fast at some point in the past?

I've never had issues with speed in the past, although beyond the canon app (which I've used a few times) I've never tried any remote access or live viewing from the camera. I did download another Photo Booth app and it was pretty slow as well?

OK. So you are not saying that wifibooth worked well for you, then got slow all of a sudden.
I am going to have an update to the beta available with improvements for Canon live-view, next week. Please stay tuned.
