Long time from taking to showing picture

Postby johannTBox » Fri Aug 31, 2018 3:35 pm

Hey Tim,

we currently have the problem that it takes a lot of time between taking a shot or three for the collage. Sometimes it shows the gifs for at least 1 Minute and then only the circle starts moving.

Then it additionally takes a long time for it to print. Could it be the old wps pro we are using? It maybe has too old Bluetooth?

We have the alpha 6300 set to all smallest settings.

Can we pls brainstorm about what might cause this.

Can you please describe your wifi setup very specifically?
I assume Wifibooth is 4.4.8 on your iPad, please check it (settings app -> wifibooth), and that all switches in Settings App -> wifibooth are OFF.
First thing to try: turn everything off except just the iPad and the camera. Connect wifibooth to the camera. Do photos now load faster?

Hey Tim,

Set up is:

Dnp 620
Wps-1 Server
iPhone 6s
iPad Pro 12,9
Sony alpha 6300

First I thought it’s because the logo and the collage background were too high quality but it also took so long with just one picture

Yesterday the printer went empty but the also after only taking digital pictures it took so long. But I will try your tip again.

So is it the camera? But it also takes very long for the printer. From taking shots to getting a print it’s almost 2-5 minutes

No the a6300 is definitely capable of 3 photos transferred in 30 seconds.
Try these in order:
1. try with only camera and ipad
2. Try faster memory card

Hey Tim,

we‘ll try the first tip.

Second one shouldn’t be the problem. We have this one:
Transcend Ultimate-Speed SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 64GB Speicherkarte (bis 90MB/s Lesen, 600x) [Amazon frustfreie Verpackung] https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00H8JHPO0/ref ... IBb90F9QYJ

Shouldn’t it be fast enough?

Could it be crazy and mean that we set the pictures too small? Maybe it has to make them smaller? Doesn’t make sense but Ian trying to think about everything :)

No it is much more likely to be a wifi problem, so try connecting ipad to camera with nothing else - no blueprint etc and see

We will try that and give feedback

but I read in another thread that this could be solved with the update 4.4.8.

He also had problems with a Sony alpha

it’s true! There have been a ton of releases in 2018 because I have dedicated 100% of my time to this app, and i have a ton of ideas on how to improve it.

Does 4.4.8 work better for you?

Hey Tim,

The 4.4.8 update makes it worse for us so far. Pictures take forever to load and now the alpha 6300 disconnects sometime (20:33 pm Germany). And going quickly to gallery and back to camera makes the app say „try again“

You Said i should kill all set up points in the settings of Wifibooth. Only thing that was on was „wiederherstellung von Wifibooth“.

Since I turned that off the camera can’t connect anymore.

Ok after 20 min. Camera was able to connect:

After more than one minute of loading (3 shots) it finishes with two shots in the collage.

How can I add a video longer than 30 sec here? I made a video and it takes 2 minutes from activating to having a collage with 2 pics instead of 3...

Hi Johann,
I tested 4.4.8 extensively with Sony cameras and it is definitely either the same or better than 4.4.7 depending on whether BluePrint is in the setup.
What happened when you tried only the camera and the ipad together, no other equipment, as we discussed?

Hey Tim,

That’s what I used. Only camera with its WiFi for iPad. Nothing else.

I will try to reset the camera and format the sd card.

While doing that I just discovered that the pictures saved to photos on IPad are way smaller than the one on the cam. Is that ok?

Ok then yes let’s make sure we are starting from scratch:
- make a new event in wifibooth
- reset camera to factory settings, make sure smart remote embedded app and firmware are fully up to date
- format sd card make sure it isnt a crappy slow old card

If that doesn’t work then it is time to try either a different camera of the same model to see if that is the issue, or, a different ipad to see if that is the issue

Photos are downsized to print size (1800x1200) by default in the app. Thats a setting you can change. What size are the JPGs on the sd card?

Hey Tim,

New event was set already with no collage image or layout.

New and fast SD card formatting is going and camera will be reset soon.

Ok. How fluid is the liveview? How big (in MB) are the JPGs on the card?

Hey Tim,

Because of the long time it was taking I set the pics to small and standard so this wasn’t it.

BUT I reset the camera played the newest remote app on it and formatted the SD card.

It is working smoothly now and doesn’t take long to work the photos.

This is a big relief 😅 On Thursday we have a major client and it scared me a lot that it didn’t work right!

Thanks for your support!

<t>Hey Tim,<br/>
<br/>
After we were afraid that it begins again to be very slow we played around and tried to format the SD card. This made it work fast agaain. But now we have to format the card before every event to be fast again. Is that normal?</t>

That's not normal as far as I am aware, no. But perhaps it is specific to that camera (sony a6300 correct?)
Depending on what the camera supports, wifibooth has to enumerate EVERY file on that card when the camera first connects. But that shouldn't make anything other than connecting slow. So i'm not sure why you are seeing a difference with a formatted card.
