Need help...

Postby emano » Sun Feb 19, 2017 1:49 pm

Hi,

I've been browsing wifibooth website and all the articles and youtube videos out there for whole day but I'm still little bit confused with the whole system.

Right now I have two nikons d7000's (no wifi) so I'm ready to purchase dslr that supports wifi or eye-fi card (which I would prefer in the beginning as it is cheaper solution to start with...)

Here are my requirements for my planned photo booth:

1) Ipad + DSLR as a camera + external studio strobe
2) Live video preview for clients on ipad screen before taking the photo so they know where to stand to be in the frame
3) No external buttons or remotes to take the photo - Client would only need to touch the button on the ipad to start taking photos

Questions:
(1) - are these 3 elements only things that I need for running photo booth without printing? (not talking about wires, memory cards, tripod etc obviously)
(2) - is it possible to do this with d7000 + eye-fi card or do I have to buy DSLR that supports wifi?
(3) - is it possible to do this with d7000 + eye-fi card or do I have to buy DSLR that supports wifi?

Thank you very much for clarifying this to me. Your app seems like a great tool and I would love to purchase it, but I need to be sure about my concerns first. Thank you very much:)

The eyefi card is an SD card - it will only transfer static photos, and it's not easy to set up. You won't get streaming video (live preview), and you cannot trigger the camera from an SD card either.
Grab a DSLR that has wifi builtin, and it'll all work much better. Canon's implementation of wifi is superior to Nikon's, so take a look at the 750D as a great cheap option.
You don't need to buy the app to get it all working and make sure it's going to work how you want. You can do that first with the app in trial mode (watermarks), THEN only buy the app if it works for you.

Thank you for your super-quick reply, Tim. Is there a video online where I could see the whole system working?
There are only two online videos (below) about your app but none of it really shows the workflow of real photo booth with wifi dslr and ipad in action... I want to get sence of how quick everything is in real use. Sure I can try trial mode of your app but cannot buy trial wifi camera:) Thanks.

Sorry I still haven't managed to find someone to make me professional videos -- working on it.
You do not have to buy a camera, you can rent one. Or if you live in North America you can waltz into a best buy with your ipad, and play with the wifi cameras on display with the app -- the camera can generate the wifi hotspot.
