Black screen after a while

Postby adirpm » Fri Dec 28, 2018 4:17 pm

Hey Tim,

I am facing a weird issue. The app works fine but after a while, when people don’t use the booth, the screen of my iPad turns black.
It can’t be turned back on with tapping on the screen. So no photos etc.

To reset it, I have to press the power button of my iPad - then the screen turns on but i have to reset everything. Because the app and the WiFi won’t connect again somehow. I also have to unplug the battery.

My set up is the following:
Im using a canon 70d, iPad 2017.
Also I have turned off the switching off mode of the iPad and the camera.
And im using the „parental mode” (when you can’t leave the app).
Any suggestion?
It appeared at three events now..

Update: it happens when you don’t touch the screen of the iPad for like 20-40 minutes.

with a different ipad app and ios 12 there was a bug that didn't allow you to use guided access. My guess is if you take off guided access then it will solve your issue.

Alright thanks. It’s actually updated on all devises.
Any chance I can block the use of other apps without guided access. Thanks anyway/

Hmm that's very strange. I don't know about this, I will need to see if I can reproduce the issue...

UPDATE: I found a possible workaround to make guided access work again.
iOS 12.1.1 has been released and includes a fix to this issue, but requires a change to a new setting introduced in this release to prevent the screen from sleeping: General > Accessibility > Guided Access > Mirror Display Auto-Lock > ON.
