Canon 80D not firing flash

Postby Mhassel1 » Sat Jun 03, 2017 1:56 am

Hello,

I have a Canon 80D with a hotshoe connected to a Neewer SK300 strobe flash. I have tried all of the suggestion that were mentioned on the Canon camera site on the app to no avail. Do you have any other suggestion for me to try? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you-MH

Sorry im not a canon pro. Did you try a canon-branded flash (speedlight) to see if that is the problem? The 80D is new and they probably changed the way it works

No I haven't tried that type of flash, although when just using the camera the flash works great. The issue is when using the WiFi Booth app it doesn't work.

Did you try turning off live view?

What happens if you shoot the same way with the official canon app, is it the same?

Hi Tim,

I am not sure what is meant by the Canon App? I am just using the camera as normal and the flash is working. Please explain? I really need to resolve this issue.

What i mean is, if you use the app that Canon made to take photos with your camera, does the same thing happen?
Probably for your camera it is this app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/canon-c ... 97177?mt=8

Hi Tim,
I am also experiencing a problem with external flash setup.
My canon t6i works fine with external flash when not connected to wifi booth.
Once I connect it to wifibooth, the flash does not trigger.
When I change my canon t6i settings from live view mode enable to disable,
My iPad screens remains black and the photo click button on wifibooth remains disable aswell.

Please help.

Thanks,
Nirmal.

Your T6i is not capable of wifi tethering plus live view plus flash - because it is only capable of one exposure for the photo and the live view.

Your choices are:
- upgrade to Canon xxD series like 80D
- turn off live view
- use constant lighting instead of flash

There is a help article describing this on wifibooth.com

Hi Tim,
Thanks for you last reply,
I have just borrowed a Canon 80d camera from my friend.
Canon 80d is working fine on live view mode too. It triggers a flash normally.
But when connected to wifibooth software, canon 80d does not fires a flash.
While connected to wifi booth if I am using my canon 80d click button then it still fires a flash normally.
But when I use the wifi booth photo click button on my iPad, no flash is fired.
What could I be missing here?

Please help.

Thanks,
Nirmal.
