Night-time Mode Causing Black Screen

Postby yonihart » Sun Aug 23, 2020 5:34 pm

Enabling Night-time Mode causes all my photos to be covered by a black screen, even outside the defined nighttime period. Time, date and UI controls show over the top, but none of my photos are visible unless I disable this feature. I've tried adjusting the start and end times, and changing photo source, to no avail. Any suggestions welcome. I'm running iOS 9.3.5 on an iPad 2.

Hey Tim, do you have an ETA for a fix?

I need to get a slideshow up and running ASAP and without nighttime mode, this app is pretty useless to me. Which is a real shame as it checks all the other boxes. :(

No ETA. iOS 9 is so old it's impossible to run it on a simulator unless you have an older version of MacOS running, which I don't right now. So it's going to take me time to find a device and figure this out.

In that case, could I please get a refund as the product doesn't work as described?

Refunds are processed by apple, use the email receipt you got from apple and hit the "report a problem" link. That's how to start the process.

Thanks, Tim.

Please do let me know if and when you manage to fix the bug as I would definitely like to give this app another go.

Hey Yonihart
Looking at the code I can see something that would cause what you're describing: what are the start time and end time of nighttime mode that you have set on the iPad?
If by chance the start time is "lower" (earlier in the day) than the end time, then the behavior that you describe can occur. It is not supposed to be possible to get to this state, but I think that's a problem with iOS 9.
I'm still looking into this in the meantime

If I pick a start time e.g. 12:30 AM it only lets me pick an end time that's earlier (all times after 12:30 AM are grayed out).

Is it possible that the time on the left - what I interpret to be the start of night mode - is actually the end of night mode and vice versa?

No you've got the right idea.
Can you please pick a "PM" time for the start (left) time, like 11:59pm, and see if that helps?
